Whitworth to host 18th annual Gospel Explosion Feb. 13

Whitworth University will host its 18th annual Gospel Explosion on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Seeley G. Mudd Chapel. The theme this year is “Still praising him after all these years.” The event is free and all are welcome to attend.

Bob Goff, best-selling author and founder of Restore International, will address Whitworth’s class of 2015 during the university’s 125th undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 17 at 3 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.

Whitworth to host free showing of Selma for Spokane community Feb. 8

Whitworth University will host a special, free showing of the award-winning film Selma at AMC Theaters in River Park Square downtown on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. There are only 175 tickets available for this free showing, and they must be reserved by phone or e-mail. Whitworth University will host acclaimed clarinetist and composer James Falzone for a master class and music recital on Feb. 6 in Whitworth’s Music Building Recital Hall. The master class will begin at 4 p.m., and the recital will be held at 8 p.m.

Bryan Stevenson will be the featured speaker of Whitworth University’s spring President’s Leadership Forum, held Tuesday, April 14, at 7:30 a.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. Whitworth to host Kate Shuster for Jan. 20 lecture on state of civil rights education

Whitworth University will host education specialist and statistician Kate Shuster, Ph.D., who will present a lecture, “The State of Civil Rights Education in the U.S.,” on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Robinson Teaching Theatre in Weyerhaeuser Hall. This lecture is free and the public is invited to attend.
