Whitworth Office of Church Engagement to Hold 2021 Ministry Summit June 22-24

May 27, 2021

Please join the Whitworth Office of Church Engagement for the annual Ministry Summit on June 22-24. Participants can attend in person or online from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

This year’s worship will center around the theme “For Such a Time as This: Faithful Witness in a Chaotic Culture.” Daily seminars will focus on creating healthy church planting movements, soul care for pastors, and preaching in a post-COVID world.

“Now more than ever, church and ministry leaders need to come together to reflect on the past year and begin to form a vision for the church that isn't focused on ‘going back to normal,’” says Mindy Smith, interim director of the Office of Church Engagement. “Our hope is that through gathering and shared learning we can rejuvenate pastors and ministry leaders to go out into a broken world with the good news of Jesus Christ.”

Esau McCaulley, theologian and author of Reading While Black, will be a featured Bible teacher and will lead the morning Bible hour. Inés Velásquez-McBryde, chaplain at Fuller Theological Seminary and co-lead pastor of The Church We Hope For, will preach during daily worship. Speakers include Drew Hyunm, pastor of Hope Midtown Church and founder of Hope Church NYC; Mary Hulst, chaplain at Calvin College, who will lead a workshop on preaching in a post-COVID world; and Doug Shirley, core counseling faculty at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. He will lead a workshop on pastoring through a pandemic and sustainability in ministry.

Please note: The Ministry Summit will not offer a children’s program or on-campus housing this year. Organizers hope to bring these features back in 2022 and look forward to hosting you and your family when possible.
