Author and humanitarian Bob Goff will deliver keynote speech at May 17 Whitworth Commencement Ceremony

Bob Goff, best-selling author and founder of Restore International, will address Whitworth’s class of 2015 during the university’s 125th undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 17 at 3 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
Goff is The New York Times best-selling author of Love Does, which encourages readers to live a lifestyle that fiercely seeks out ways of showing love. Goff also pioneers the vision for Restore International, a non-profit human-rights organization he founded in 2003. Restore advocates for freedom, human rights, and educational opportunities for people living in Uganda, India and Somalia.
Restore has worked with Uganda’s judiciary to bring more than 200 cases to trial, and has pursued justice, intervention and education for at-risk women and children in Uganda, India and Somalia. Restore Leadership Academy, in Northern Uganda, has educated more than 300 students, with a focus on character and leadership development. “Bob Goff’s message of putting love into action is a terrific one for soon-to-be Whitworth alumni,” says Whitworth Campaign Director Tad Wisenor, ’89. “Since the university’s mission is to graduate students who will honor God, follow Christ and serve humanity, Bob’s own stories will be both challenging and inspirational. I can’t think of a better speaker for a time when we are ramping up our Whitworth Serves campaign and celebrating our 125th anniversary.”
In addition to his writing and humanitarian endeavors, Goff has practiced law for more than 25 years. He is also an adjunct professor at Pepperdine Law School, where he teaches non-profit law, and he teaches business law at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students, offers 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
