Whitworth Choirs to Present Christmas Festival Concert: I Look From Afar…

The 2018 Whitworth University Christmas Festival Concert will take place in Spokane on Dec. 8 and 9. It will feature more than 125 student-musicians, including members of the Whitworth Choir, the Whitworth Women’s Choir and the Whitworth Men’s Chorus, as well as student instrumentalists and narrators.


The 33rd edition of this annual holiday performance, titled I Look from Afar..., symbolizes gazing beyond the present to find what is yet to come.

The concert features music and inspirational readings that celebrate the joy and mystery of the Christmas season. Featured works for the combined choirs and orchestra include selections from Felix Mendelssohn’s Christus and Arthur Honegger’s Le roi David, as well as the music of James MacMillan, Z. Randall Stroope and many others.

The Whitworth Choir and Whitworth Men’s Chorus will perform under the direction of Ryan Mullaney. Deborah Hansen, associate professor of music, will direct the Whitworth Women’s Choir. John Bodinger will serve as the organist and Emma Thackston, Mikah Turpin and Cynthia Munson will serve as accompanists.

The concerts will take place at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. Tickets: $20 general admission, $15 students/seniors (62-plus). Tickets are available at the box office. Click here to purchase.
