Whitworth School of Business Wins Regional CFA Competition

March 13, 2019
Five Whitworth School of Business students led the university to victory at the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge March 2-3 in Spokane.

Whitworth’s team defeated students from Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University and the University of Montana.

Team members include Derek Ramage ’20, Sidney Riggs ’19, Parker Durr ’19, Mesfin Symons ’19 and Jason Pinales ’19.

The competition was comprised of two parts: First, students submitted a 20-page research report in January. During the March event, students made a 10-minute presentation with a 10-minute defense followed by questions from CFA holders.

The team will take on 52 other teams in April at the Americas competition in New York.

Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
