Whitworth students receive scholarships from Logos Bible Software

Whitworth's mathematics & computer science department have awarded an annual scholarship for computer science majors through collaboration with Logos Bible Software. Last month, Whitworth juniors Joey Corry and Lauren Pangborn were each awarded $1,000 through the Logos Bible Software Annual Scholarship.

Mark Sullivan, former director of the United States Secret Service and co-founder of Global Security & Intelligence Strategies, is the featured speaker at Whitworth University’s spring President’s Leadership Forum. Sullivan will discuss the challenges of national and international security during his talk, titled “International Security: An Insider’s View” on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 a.m., at the Spokane Convention Center. Heritage Month 2014 to commemorate Whitworth’s first century in Spokane

Events marking 100 years in Spokane include lectures, film festival, sports events and art exhibit

Each February, Whitworth commemorates its founding, on Feb. 20, 1890, with a month-long celebration. This year, Heritage Month will focus on Whitworth’s first 100 years in Spokane, after the university moved from Tacoma, Wash., in 1914. Heritage Month 2014 will kick off Thursday, Feb. 6, with Founder’s Day Convocation, when students, faculty and staff will gather to celebrate Whitworth’s history and the roles they each play in building its legacy.

Whitworth alum launches online journal about Christianity in the Pacific Northwest

Matthew Kaemingk, M.Div., Ph.D., a 2003 Whitworth alum, recently founded the online journal, Christ & Cascadia, which focuses on Christianity in the Pacific Northwest. The collaborative journal draws material from over 15 contributors, including Whitworth Professor of Political Science Julia Stronks and Whitworth Professor of History Dale Soden. The Whitworth Jazz Ensemble will perform on tour in Italy Jan. 13-26, 2014, marking the eighth time the ensemble has toured the country. The ensemble is led by Daniel Keberle, director of jazz studies and trumpet professor at Whitworth.
