Whitworth School of Business dominates at regional CFA competition

Four Whitworth students led the university to victory at the recent Chartered Financial Analysis competition hosted by the CFA Society of Spokane. Whitworth’s team defeated students from Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University, Montana State University and the University of Montana, and will advance to the national CFA competition in Atlanta, Ga.
The students competing on Whitworth’s team were Josif Ilisoi, ’16, Johanna Marcelia, ’16, Samual Jarrett, ’16, and Samantha Miyauchi, ’15.
The competition comprises two segments, with a maximum score of 600 points. For the first portion, teams submit a written research report worth a maximum of 300 points. For the second portion, students engage in a 10-minute presentation and a question-and-answer session, also worth a maximum of 300 points. Whitworth’s team earned a total of 543 points, with the University of Montana following with 488 points.
If victorious at the national competition, Whitworth will move on to compete in the international competition.
