Whitworth Graduates Create Online Farmers Market

Whitworth University is proud to celebrate the success of its students and alumni, especially when their collaborative efforts impact local communities.
Vincent Peak, ’17, is chief executive officer of Share.Farm and the creator of its free-to-download smartphone app of the same name.
Peak and current MBA student and alumnus Eric Kobe, ’14, Share.Farm’s chief sales officer, recently won second place in the Open Division at the Northwest Entrepreneur Competition in Spokane, Wash.
Share.Farm provides a number of benefits to agricultural growers, sellers and consumers. It’s a virtual, 24/7 mobile marketplace where vendors can easily make sales and get paid via their mobile phones. Share.Farm reduces risk, allowing the vendor to sell the inventory they have, when they have it. Vendors pay no transaction fees, and Share.Farm markets their goods and matches them with qualified customers. The app is essential for those who frequent farmers markets because they can shop anytime, during any season and have their produce delivered right to their door.
Peak spent eight years in the Marine Corps before obtaining his bachelor of arts degree in biology from Whitworth University. His professional and educational background as well as the several years he spent as a market vendor made him realize the need for a direct connection between farmers market vendors and consumers.
“We are a gig economy for farmers and markets,” Peak says. “We love that people care for themselves, their community and environment and that this practice and initiative works full circle. To fully enrich our lives, we need to value our neighbors and put money back into the immediate economy, and that’s exactly what we’re doing at Share.Farm.”
Peak and Kobe are now traveling and marketing the app. They have already signed vendors in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and New York. "It has been such a treat seeing this dynamic duo flourish and persevere through this entrepreneurial process,” says Sinead Voorhes, director of the Whitworth Master of Business Administration Program. “They have taken advantage of every opportunity Spokane has to offer and their commitment is paying off.”
