National Immigration Forum Executive Director Ali Noorani Returns to Whitworth

April 11, 2019
Whitworth University’s political science department welcomes Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, on Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in Weyerhaeuser Hall’s Robinson Teaching Theatre.

Noorani is a highly sought-after expert on immigration policy and politics, having appeared on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, NBC News and ABC News. He is frequently quoted in major newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today.

This will be Noorani’s second visit to Whitworth. He spoke to students, faculty and staff in February 2018. This time, Noorani’s discussion, titled “Out of Many, One: A Defining Moment for American Immigration,” will focus on why this is a critical time to think thoughtfully about immigration.

Before joining the National Immigration Forum, Noorani was executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, and had served in leadership roles within public health and environmental organizations. In 2015, Noorani was named a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He holds a master of public health from Boston University and is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.

This event is free and open to the public.

Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
