Whitworth to Welcome New and Returning Students Sept. 4

Whitworth University is set to welcome one of its largest classes of incoming first-year and transfer students, close to 650 students, this fall.

The Class of 2025 is also among the most diverse, has the second highest percentage of first-generation college students and is expected to include the largest number of incoming international students in Whitworth’s history.

International enrollment saw record highs in nearly every level of the enrollment process – from inquiries and applications to admitted students and final deposited enrollments. 36 students from countries like Brazil, Canada, France, Ghana, Indian, Pakistan, New Zealand, Vietnam and Zimbabwe will be joining the Whitworth community. 

“Amid the broad and significant impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on international higher education, the Whitworth international admissions team is proud to have received a record number of inquiries and applications and to have recruited a record number of deposited students,” says Nicholas McKinney, director of Whitworth’s International Education Center. “This result is a true testament to the diligent work and commitment of our office to campus internationalization and diversifying the voices and perspectives of our community.”

The Class of 2025 includes:

Incoming students from Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities : 37 percent

Incoming first-generation college students: 37 percent

Incoming international students: 6 percent

Top feeder states: Washington (378), Oregon (30), Hawaii (26), California (24), Idaho (18)

  • Shadle Park High School (9)
  • Deer Park High School (8)
  • Waianae (Hawaii) High School (8)

Move-In Day for new students is Sept. 4. Returning students living on campus will move in Sept. 6. New Student Orientation will take place Sept. 4-11. Day and evening classes will begin Sept. 8.
