Whitworth and Gonzaga Universities Team Up to Offer Accelerated Master’s Programs to Business Majors
Whitworth students will be able to start taking Master of Accountancy (M.Acc) or Master of Science in Taxation (MS.Tax) classes during their senior year. These credits will count toward a bachelor’s in business administration (BBA) at Whitworth and a M.Acc/MS.Tax at Gonzaga and will help save students up to 20 percent in tuition costs.
This opportunity will also allow students to reduce their credit load during graduate studies and have more time to complete internships and/or study for and earn multiple accounting certifications like the CPA, CMA or CFE.
“For the first time in our history, we’re happy to be able to offer a means to students to accelerate their graduate accounting education,” says Candice Correia, associate professor of accounting at Whitworth. “Gonzaga University is the perfect partner for Whitworth given the university’s values, quality and location. Today’s higher education environment demands more graduate offerings, and students are specifically drawn to accelerated programs. This partnership is a win-win for both universities.”
“As higher education rapidly transforms, collaboration is the only option for institutional success,” says Andrew Brajcich, director of accounting graduate programs at Gonzaga. “We’ve found a great partner with the same values and vision in Whitworth. Both Gonzaga and Whitworth students stand to benefit from this new offering.”
Year after year, Whitworth students are excelling in the business world, becoming managers and partners at the Big 4 and other large regional accounting firms and firms in the private sector like STCU and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, while Gonzaga’s graduate accounting program is ranked 28th, and its job placement rate is consistently near 100 percent within three months of graduation.
