Whitworth University Celebrates Enrollment Growth as 2025-26 Academic Year Begins

August 29, 2025

Whitworth University is thrilled to welcome more than 600 new undergraduate students to campus this fall. New students will move into the residence halls Saturday, Aug. 30, beginning at 9 a.m. Returning students will move in on Monday, Sept. 1, at 9 a.m.

Preliminary numbers show of the 658 new students:

566 are first-year students.

92 are transfer students.

232 are first-generation students.

170 are athletes.

“The surge in enrollment for the fall semester is truly extraordinary,” says Josh Hibbard, vice president for enrollment management. “It didn’t happen by chance. This milestone is the direct result of the incredible dedication, creativity and teamwork of our admissions team and every faculty and staff member who contributed to the recruitment effort. Our admissions team processed nearly 4,000 domestic first-year applications, our largest volume since 2018. Ninety percent of our incoming students participated in a campus visit event, the highest in our history! This is more than an achievement; it’s a true testament to the strength of this Whitworth community.”

Orientation kicks off on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the Hixson Union Building (HUB) Lied Square. The Welcome Fair will begin at 11 a.m. in The Loop. There will be a host of activities all day for parents and students. On Sunday, the Whitworth community is invited to the Orientation Worship Service in The Loop at 9:30 a.m. Whitworth’s annual Crossover Ceremony, where new students are officially welcomed, will take place in the same location at 1 p.m. For information on Move-in Day and Orientation, please click here.

Classes begin on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
