Oregon Athletic Trainers' Society recognizes Whitworth alum

The Oregon Athletic Trainers' Society has recognized Whitworth alum David Howell, '08, as its Athletic Trainer Student of the Month. Howell is a second-year graduate student in the graduate athletic training program at the University of Oregon. The OATS issued the following statement about Howell:

Whitworth is one of the highest-ranked schools in the Pacific Northwest

Whitworth University yet again has captured a spot on Kiplinger's annual rankings of the 100 best values among private liberal arts colleges and universities in the United States. The university joins some of the most elite schools in the country on the magazine's 2010-11 rankings. Whitworth is one of the smallest universities to appear on the list, yet it is the second-highest-ranked school in the Pacific Northwest and ranks ahead of all but a handful of other private universities on the West Coast.

Whitworth choirs to present 2010 Christmas Festival Concert, "Heaven and Nature Sing"

Whitworth business alum publishes new book on mastering thought

Last September, 1976 Whitworth alum Mark Waller released his seventh book, Mastering Thought (Before it Masters You) (2010, WingSpan Press), which he says challenges basic beliefs about thought and emotional reactions.

Whitworth Cultural Awareness Week to promote understanding of diverse perspectives



Whitworth is sponsoring Cultural Awareness Week Nov. 15-20, featuring Whitworth clubs and community groups representing traditions, beliefs and lifestyles of different cultures. The event will promote learning and understanding of various cultures at Whitworth, in the surrounding community and throughout the world.

The university is featured in the "Great Deals at Great Schools" list in the Ultimate College Guide 2011, published by U.S. News & World Report. The guide features data on more than 1,400 colleges and universities in the U.S.

Fourth annual Whitworth Symposium Nov. 18 to feature director of World Relief's Spokane office

International Education Week also to include student poster presentations, dance performance by Mukogawa Women's University students

In anticipation of International Education Week Nov. 15-19, the Whitworth School of Education and history department, in conjunction with Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute, will sponsor a symposium, "Education for the Global Heart and Mind," featuring an address by Mark Kadel, director of World Relief's Spokane office, and a keynote speech by Dr. Larry Burnley, Whitworth's assistant vice president for intercultural relations. Kadel and Burnley will speak on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in Weyerhaeuser Hall. The symposium also will feature student poster presentations and a dance performance by students from Mukogawa Women's University. A question-and-answer session will conclude the evening's events. Admission to the symposium is free; the event is open to the public.

Pushcart Prize-winning author Russell Working to present Endowed English Reading at Whitworth Nov. 12
