Whitworth is one of the highest-ranked schools in the Pacific Northwest
Whitworth University yet again has captured a spot on Kiplinger's annual rankings of the 100 best values among private liberal arts colleges and universities in the United States. The university joins some of the most elite schools in the country on the magazine's 2010-11 rankings. Whitworth is one of the smallest universities to appear on the list, yet it is the second-highest-ranked school in the Pacific Northwest and ranks ahead of all but a handful of other private universities on the West Coast.
Whitworth choirs to present 2010 Christmas Festival Concert, "Heaven and Nature Sing"

The 2010 Whitworth University Christmas Festival Concert, "Heaven and Nature Sing," will take place in Bellevue, Seattle and Spokane, featuring the Whitworth Choir, the Whitworth Women's Choir, and the Whitworth Men's Chorus. Whitworth once again has been recognized as a best value in higher education. The university is featured in the "Great Deals at Great Schools" list in the Ultimate College Guide 2011, published by U.S. News & World Report. The guide features data on more than 1,400 colleges and universities in the U.S.

International Education Week also to include student poster presentations, dance performance by Mukogawa Women's University students
In anticipation of International Education Week Nov. 15-19, the Whitworth School of Education and history department, in conjunction with Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute, will sponsor a symposium, "Education for the Global Heart and Mind," featuring an address by Mark Kadel, director of World Relief's Spokane office, and a keynote speech by Dr. Larry Burnley, Whitworth's assistant vice president for intercultural relations. Kadel and Burnley will speak on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in Weyerhaeuser Hall. The symposium also will feature student poster presentations and a dance performance by students from Mukogawa Women's University. A question-and-answer session will conclude the evening's events. Admission to the symposium is free; the event is open to the public.
Pushcart Prize-winning author Russell Working to present Endowed English Reading at Whitworth Nov. 12

Fiction author Russell Working, a 2000 Whitworth alum, will give Whitworth's Endowed English Reading on Friday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. The reading will take place in Weyerhaeuser Hall's Robinson Teaching Theatre. Admission is free. For more information, call (509) 777-3253.
