August 27, 2019
The Whitworth University campus will be bustling with new students this weekend. It’s Move-In Day on Saturday, Aug. 31, beginning at 9 a.m.

Whitworth will welcome close to 700 students, when school begins on Sept. 4.

The Class of 2023 is also the most diverse, has the highest percentage of first-generation college students and has the largest number of international students in Whitworth’s history.

  • Incoming students from underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds: 39 percent
  • Incoming first-generation students: 37 percent
  • Incoming international students: 5 percent
  • Top feeder states: Washington (454), California (45), Oregon (37), Hawaii (35), Idaho (22)
  • Top feeder countries for international students: Nigeria (6), India (5), Ghana (4), Mongolia (3)
  • Top feeder high schools: Mead High School and Mt. Spokane High School (both 24)

This year, members of Whitworth’s faculty and staff (look for the heather gray T-shirts), as well as members of several of Whitworth’s athletics teams, will be on hand to welcome new students and help them settle in. The weekend will wrap up with parent orientation on Sunday.
