Whitworth Office of Church Engagement Welcomes Meredith Anne Miller for Faith & Parenting Workshop Oct. 21
Miller is currently a pastor at Pomona Valley Church, based in Southern California. She previously served as the curriculum director for children’s ministry at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. Miller has also been involved with the work of the Fuller Youth Institute since 2007.
The workshop will center on themes from Miller’s recently published book, Woven: Nurturing a Faith Your Kid Doesn’t Have to Heal From, and will engage parents, caregivers and ministry leaders in activities and discussions to help them consider more carefully how to craft a family faith culture that is intentional, meaningful and sustainable.
“Many Christian parenting resources tend to approach child faith formation like an equation to be solved, one that just needs the correct formula” says Formed in Faith Director Lauren Hunter. “Meredith offers parents, caregivers and ministry leaders a new way forward. By emphasizing our ability to trust God to be the active agent in forming our children, she frees us up to parent with curiosity and expectation, eyes wide open to the ways God is already at work in the youngest among us.”
The event is open to the public and includes child care. Registration costs $15 per family and can be found here. Whitworth Church is located adjacent to Whitworth’s campus.
The workshop is being hosted as part of the Formed in Faith Initiative, which seeks to draw parents and churches together to investigate parenting as a site of intentional discipleship. This formation of parents and caregivers is intended to equip them to practice vibrant faith alongside their young children to intentionally disciple them as Christians.
