Whitworth Theatre Presents Spring Main-Stage Production, “Rabbit Hole”
Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, Rabbit Hole delves into the complexity of a family navigating deep grief after the loss of a child and trying to learn what it means to live a fruitful life when things fall apart.
The play was the recipient of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has been nominated for several Tony awards.
One interesting aspect of Whitworth’s production is that two of the actors are available to play “swing” roles. This means they have memorized multiple characters, eliminating the need for each role to have an understudy.
This will be Chris Hansen’s directorial debut at Whitworth. Hansen most recently directed his own written work, Another One, in collaboration with three American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, on Spokane Falls Community College’s virtual main stage in fall 2021. Hansen is a current lecturer at Whitworth and has been an adjunct instructor at SFCC for the past nine years. His acting credits cross both film and theatre and include multiple children’s tours with the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre.
