Whitworth Honored as A Top Ten Military Friendly School by Viqtory Media

March 28, 2024

Whitworth University is proud to announce it has been named a 2024-2025 Top-Ten Military Friendly® School by Viqtory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM Jobs SM and Military Spouse. This is the eighth consecutive year Whitworth has been recognized by Viqtory, and the second time it has made the top ten list of “private schools not offering a doctorate.”

Viqtory staff members say Whitworth’s efforts in creating “sustainable and meaningful education paths for the Military Community” is the primary  reason for the designation.

The Military Friendly® ratings are determined through the evaluation of public data and proprietary data gathered through the annual Military Friendly® survey process. Survey topics and questions are reviewed and developed with the assistance of an independent Military Friendly® Advisory Council comprised of independent subject matter experts and industry partners representing the field of veteran education. Scoring is now fully automated.

“Whitworth and the staff at the Military & Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC) are honored to be ranked a Top-Ten Military Friendly school,” says Phil Labrie, associate director of military & veterans outreach. “We work hard to create a place where military-connected students feel valued and appreciated. We don’t take this designation lightly and we continuously strive to live up to the honor by serving and supporting our veterans and military-connected students in every way we can.”

Efforts undertaken by the MAVRC team this year include:

Holding a military appreciation football game in which our student veterans were presented with a Whitworth Challenge Coin

Inviting the Whitworth community and local dignitaries to attend the 32nd annual Veterans Day Ceremony on campus

The acquisition of a van that will be used exclusively by ROTC cadets

Campaigning to make Whitworth’s veteran center ADA accessible which resulted in a $25,000 grant from Gesa Credit Union to be used to install a wheelchair lift at MAVRC

Whitworth will appear in a special feature listing in GIJOBS Magazine® on March 27.

The university is approved to serve veterans and their family members who are eligible for educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, including under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, Yellow Ribbon, Montgomery GI Bill®, Veterans Educational Assistance, Survivors & Dependents Assistance, and Military Tuition Assistance.
