Whitworth Presents Christmas Festival Concerts at St. John’s Cathedral Dec. 7 and 8

November 26, 2024

One of the most beloved events at Whitworth University, the Christmas Festival Concerts, continues in a new location this year. Hear the beautiful voices of Whitworth’s choral ensembles accompanied by student instrumentalists inside St. John’s Cathedral on Dec. 7 and 8.

Xiaosha Lin, director of choral activities, and Scott David Miller, professor of music and director of voice studies, will lead these talented students in performing Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit pour NoĂ«l (Midnight Mass for Christmas) and other Christmas songs.

Whitworth Interim Provost John Pell and Erica Salkin, interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, will offer a prayer and readings during the concert.

Weaved in throughout this performance is a beautiful connection to the stained glass inside St. John’s Cathedral. Attendees will be asked to notice how the text inside the program reflects the stories of the beautiful images on the stained glass that surrounds them.

The concerts will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. Purchase tickets here. Online tickets are $20 for general admission; $15 for seniors (62-plus), Whitworth University faculty and staff, and non-Whitworth students; and free for Whitworth students. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for an additional $2 per ticket.
