Public Notification of NWCCU’s Comprehensive Accreditation Visit to Whitworth University
The university is a member institution with the NWCCU, an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Whitworth is proud to have achieved and maintained formal accreditation through the NWCCU since 1933.
This NWCCU review will include a narrative response to NWCCU standards and eligibility requirements. A peer evaluation team who is part of a volunteer corps, trained by the NWCCU, and drawn from faculty, staff and administrative leaders at other universities in the NWCCU region, will review the EIE Report and use its time on campus to ask questions and offer feedback. Whitworth’s last year-seven report and visit was completed in 2018, resulting in a reaffirmation of accreditation status.
Whitworth invites the public to provide comments for consideration in the review of its qualifications for reaccreditation. All comments must be received no later than Sept. 21, 2025. Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs and will be made available to the institution, evaluation team and the Commission prior to the scheduled visit. Comments should be submitted directly to the Commission at:
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
Attn: Third Party Comment
8060 165th Ave NE, Ste 200
Redmond, WA 98052
Policies regarding public disclosures for NWCCU visits and evaluations can be found on the Commission’s website or by contacting the Commission office at 425.558.4224.
