Elite Ultramarathon Champion and Acclaimed Scholar Sabrina Little to Speak at Whitworth March 5
Little is one of the most accomplished ultramarathoners in the U.S., having competed as a professional distance runner for seven years. She held two American distance running records, was a World Championships silver medalist and was selected to represent the United States on five national teams. She is now combining all she learned as an athlete with her love for philosophy and bringing her talks on endurance and character to audiences nationwide.
“Sabrina Little is one of our most thoughtful Christian thinkers when it comes to questions of character formation – whether in sports, the classroom or life,” says Davey Henreckson, director of the Weyerhaeuser Center for Faith & Christian Learning. “The Whitworth community is in for a treat.”
Little is an assistant professor at the Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society at The Ohio State University. Her first book, The Examined Run, was published in 2024 and has been praised for its thoughtful exploration of competition, virtue and personal growth.
She earned her Ph.D. in philosophy from Baylor University and pursued additional graduate studies at Yale Divinity School and the College of William & Mary. Her scholarly work centers on virtue ethics, moral psychology and classical philosophy, with particular attention to moral emotions and character education.
Little has a monthly column on iRunFar.com called The Examined Run, and she is a regular contributor to Psychology Today, where you’ll find her blog Considerations of Character.
This event is free and open to the public.
