Tacoma's urban communities have reason to celebrate as eight more of the city's emerging urban leaders graduate from Whitworth University as part of the Act Six Leadership and Scholarship Initiative.

Two Whitworth Act Six Scholars were recently confirmed in the highly-competitive Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP). As part of the program, Gifti Abbo will conduct an internship at the University of Louisville, and Helya Peyman will conduct her internship at the University of Washington.

Whitworth University has again been placed on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Two Whitworth seniors take first and second place in national essay competition

Two Whitworth students have taken first and second place in the Presbyterian Outlook annual essay competition. Senior Heather Wallace won the $1,000 first prize, and senior Sarah Glady won the $200 second prize.
