Whitworth University Presents Gospel Explosion Feb. 22
February 20, 2019
Please join Whitworth University as it partners with churches in the community to host the 22nd annual Gospel Explosion on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Seeley G. Mudd Chapel. The event is free, and all are welcome to attend.
This year’s theme is “Bringing Heaven Down to Earth!” During the event, Whitworth’s Exceptional Praise Gospel Choir will perform alongside choirs from local churches and other guest artists including members of the WERE Praise Team, Bethel AME, The Marimba Band, JITA (Jesus Is The Answer City Church), the Spokane Gospel Choir, Restoration Church and Shades of Africa.
“We want to celebrate with singing, praise and worship as if we were in the Kingdom!” says Stephaine Nobles-Beans, associate chaplain for diversity, equity & inclusion ministry at Whitworth. Beans created Gospel Explosion in 1997 to bring Spokane’s churches and Whitworth together through music.
The popular event takes place every February as part of the university’s celebration of Black History Month.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
