Whitworth University / News / Release
Whitworth Named Military Friendly School for Seventh Consecutive Year
Whitworth is an approved university to serve veterans and their family members who are eligible for educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, including under the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Yellow Ribbon, Montgomery GI Bill, Veterans Educational Assistance, Survivors & Dependents Assistance, and Military Tuition Assistance.
“At Whitworth University, we work hard to create a place where our military-connected students will feel valued and appreciated for their service,” says Phil Labrie, associate director for military & veterans outreach. “We understand the sacrifices these men and women and their families have endured over the years, so it’s an honor to serve them and provide not only a great place to learn, but a place where they feel valued and welcomed. We are grateful to be recognized as a university that truly values our nation’s heroes.”
First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is the most comprehensive educational resource for veterans and their dependents.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining an institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
