Whitworth Welcomes Grammy-Winning Trumpeter Brian Lynch for Jazz Clinic and Concert April 14-15

Whitworth University is pleased to announce its Guest Artist Jazz Concert will feature multi-Grammy award-winning trumpeter and composer Brian Lynch on Saturday, April 15, at 8 p.m. at the Bing Crosby Theater. Lynch will perform arrangements and original compositions with the nationally recognized Whitworth Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jared Hall, assistant professor of music. 

Lynch has been nominated multiple times for Grammys and has won two: Best Latin Jazz Album in 2006 and Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in 2020.

An honored graduate of two of the jazz world’s most distinguished academies, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and the Horace Silver Quintet, Lynch received wide acclaim during his long tenures with Latin jazz legend Eddie Palmieri and jazz master Phil Woods.

As a bandleader and recording artist, Lynch has released more than 20 critically acclaimed albums featuring his distinctive composing and arranging and continues to tour the world with various ensembles.

Lynch is a professor of jazz and studio music at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He has conducted clinics, workshops and residencies all over the world and is the artist in residence for Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Jazz Institute (2010-present) and artistic director of Ensamble Tonica (Guadalajara, Mexico). 

Lynch will perform a free jazz clinic for area high school students on April 14 at 5:15 p.m. in Cowles Auditorium.
