Whitworth Music Department Presents the 2023 Christmas Festival Concert, “Joy to the World”
Whitworth choral ensembles and student instrumentalists will showcase Christmas music from around the world to bring the audience a different kind of Christmas musical feast. Selections will include pieces from Nigeria, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and more. The audience will also join the choirs in singing traditional American favorites like O Come, All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World.
The concert will feature collaborative guest artist An Dóchas, a Spokane-based Irish band with cross-cultural influences.
We invite you to enjoy the beautiful harmonies of the Whitworth Choir and the Ponderosa Tenor Bass Choir directed by Xiaosha Lin, DMA, director of choral activities, and the Forest Treble Choir, directed by Joshua Chism, Ph.D., associate director of choral activities.
The choirs will be accompanied by talented instrumentalists on the harpsichord, organ, fiddle, bodhran, guitar, harp, cello and percussion instruments, as well as members of the brass quintet.
Readers include Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Joshue Orozco, Alexis Asato ’25 and Titilope Oluwasholape Olatunji ’26.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors (62-plus), students, and Whitworth faculty and staff. Tickets may be purchased online at foxtheaterspokane.com, at the Fox box office or by calling (509) 624-1200.
