Whitworth Theatre Presents Spring Main-Stage Production, “Little Women”
The adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel is by playwright Kate Hamill. Hamill's adaptation is considered one of the most contemporary takes on the story and has been praised for its humor, humanity and relatability. Audience members will see everything they expect from Little Women, but with an emphasis on Jo’s relationships with her sisters.
The cast is a mix of new actors and experienced veterans. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy will be played by Fiona Beattie, Stella Reitz, Sydney Anderson and McKenna Devos. Newcomers include Xander Frenz (Laurie) and Kyler Kramer (Mr. Dashwood and Mr. March).
The play is directed by Whitworth Lecturer of Theatre Chris Hansen, who also designed the set and lights. Hansen also directed Whitworth’s spring 2024 production, Rabbit Hole. He’s worked in theatre for 15 years. He is the recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) teaching award and has been involved in television shows like Z Nation and feature films like I Am Wrath, posing as John Travolta's body double in the film.
