Acclaimed Cultural Critic and Journalist Christine Emba to Speak at Whitworth University on April 8
Emba is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where she researches and writes on issues including gender, relationships and social norms. Her work has positioned her as a leading national thinker on the cultural forces shaping modern life.
“It is such an honor to host Christine Emba on our campus,” says Davey Henreckson, director of the Weyerhaeuser Center for Faith & Christian Learning. “She has emerged as one of our most thought-provoking commentators on modern sexual ethics, gender and the complications of romance in an increasingly digital world. Emba brings her scintillating intellect and deep Christian commitments to everything she does.”
Emba previously served as a staff writer at The Atlantic and as an opinion columnist and editorial board member at The Washington Post. Emba is also the author of Rethinking Sex: A Provocation, a widely discussed book examining the blind spots of contemporary sexual ethics.
Emba received the Nell Minow Award for Cultural Criticism in 2024 and was named among the top global thinkers by Prospect magazine in 2022.
This event, part of Whitworth’s Call & Character and Weyerhaeuser Center for Christian Faith & Learning’s Speakers Series, is free and open to the public.
