It’s Move-in Day! Whitworth Welcomes New Students

September 1, 2022

Whitworth University is excited to welcome new and transfer students on Move-In Day, Saturday, Sept. 3. Orientation will begin at 8 a.m. in the Hixson Union Building (HUB).

Students and their families are invited to attend the Welcome Fair in The Loop from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. They’ll get a taste of Spokane, with free samples from local restaurants, information from local businesses, and representatives from campus services to greet them and help them become involved in the Whitworth community.

Move-in will begin at 8:30 a.m., with even room numbers moving in from 8:30-11 a.m. Odd room numbers will follow from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Whitworth gets students off to a great start with the Intro to Handshake workshop at 9 a.m. in the HUB ABC room. Career center and student employment staff will show students how to access and navigate Handshake, Whitworth's online career management platform. It allows students to easily explore majors and career paths, sign up for workshops and events, request appointments with career advisors, and apply for on- and off-campus jobs.

Campus tours for families and guests will take place throughout the day.

One of the most memorable events for our first-year students has always been Whitworth’s Cross-Over Ceremony. This will take place at 4 p.m. in the Loop. Admissions will present all incoming students to President Scott McQuilkin, who will formally accept these students as they are surrounded by their families and loved ones. New students will cross under the traditional pinecone arch, where they will be welcomed into the Whitworth community by faculty, staff and fellow students.
