Whitworth Wind Symphony Presents “Resilience” at the Fox Theater Nov. 20

The acclaimed Whitworth University Wind Symphony, under the direction of Richard Strauch, presents Resilience at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m.

The program, celebrating the spirit of resilience during challenging times, features Carlos Simon’s Sweet Chariot, J.S. Bach’s monumental Prelude and Fugue in E-flat (“St. Anne”), Vincent Persichetti’s Symphony No. 6, and more.

For tickets, please click here. Cost: adults, $7; seniors (62-plus), $5. Students receive free admission and can claim their ticket at the box office by presenting a valid student I.D. 

The Whitworth Wind Symphony has appeared in concert at state and regional conferences of the Washington Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education and the College Band Directors National Association, and has toured throughout the western United States and in Hawaii, Costa Rica and Thailand. 

As the university’s select auditioned wind and percussion ensemble, the wind symphony has been active in commissioning new works and collaborating with composers around the world. Noted composers David Maslanka, Eric Ewazen, James David and Peter Van Zandt Lane have praised the wind symphony’s performances of their music, and recent performance collaborations have included saxophonist Lawrence Gwozdz, bass trombonist Douglas Yeo, and the Travis Brass of the United States Air Force. 

The ensemble is open by audition to all Whitworth University students in any major who are woodwind, brass, percussion or string bass musicians.

Proof of vaccination required OR negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of performance. 

Documentation of vaccine status must be shown with a valid ID upon entry to the venue. Proof of vaccination can be achieved by:

Showing your physical vaccination card

Presenting a photo of your vaccination card stored on a electronic device

OR:

If providing proof of negative Covid-19 test, this can be achieved by:

Showing a copy of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to concert.

Test must be administered by a healthcare provider, pharmacy, etc.

Self-administered or over-the-counter tests are not an option at this time.

Masks Required:

Masks are required for all patrons at all times regardless of vaccination status.
